This album is part of the deluxe 2011 Feels Like the First Time issue that also includes the Acoustique: The Classics Unplugged album and the video concert Live in Chicago. This collection is a re-recording of Foreigner’s greatest hits with new singer Kelly Hansen, bassist Jeff Pilson, multi-instrumentalist Tom Gimbel, keyboardist Michael Bluestein, drummer Mark Schulman and original Foreigner guitarist Mick Jones. The songs have been meticulously performed and given the extra sonic boost that modern recording techniques allow. Fact is, Hansen fills Lou Gramm’s immense shoes admirably. It’s hard, if not impossible, to tell them apart. The performances of “Long, Long Way From Home,” “Hot Blooded,” “Head Games” and other established classics are so close to the original spirit that it isn’t unusual for people to think these are remixed versions of the originals. They’re that close. This album also features the brand new song “Save Me,” which was co-written by Jones’ stepdaughter Samantha Ronson.
