There couldn't have been any doubt over a lead single from This Is Normal — "Ladyshave" is an instant winner, a distorted organ/shuffle beat combination calling to mind the Charlatans' underrated second album Between 10th and 11th. GusGus has bigger fish to fry, though, with Daniel Agust's usual deceptively cool delivery making a great contrast to the warmth of the music, though every so often he bursts through with just enough soul. Two further remixes appear — Roy Davis, Jr.'s "lady soul" version turns the song into 1973-era Philadelphia and gets away with it, while Tim Lee's "fully bearded" mix is a good enough funk jam. "Purple (Sasha Midnight in Reyjavik)," a remix from Polydistortion, makes for an engaging techno instrumental, very pleasant in an active prog-house style, while "Love Vs. Hate" reappears unchanged from This Is Normal to close things up.
