Released on Peter Rosenberg's Real Late Label, The Alexander Green Project is a dope concept album produced entirely by veteran beat maestro Kev Brown and showcasing the quality lyricism of Kaimbir and the entire Low Budget crew. Like other projects built entirely on samples from one artist (the Beatles, Stevie, Prince, etc), all of the tracks here are composed of cleverly rearranged Al Green chops, resulting in 13 smooth and supremely funky tracks for Kaimbir (whose government name happens to be Al Green) and his associates to get loose on. This is one of those few records that you can really just hit play and let it ride; there are no jarring moments, wack skits, or desperate attempts at club jams anywhere to be found. "Gritz" is a standout, as is the remix "More Gritz" featuring Kid Daytona and a surprisingly impressive turn from frat-rap poster child Asher Roth, "Three Sixty" pays tribute to both the Reverend and Iron Man-era Ghostface, and posse cut "The Combination," with Sean Born, Kenn Star, DJ Marshall Law, Quatermaine, IQ, and Hussan Mackey is also outstanding.
