Released five months after Hotter Than Hell, Dressed to Kill is the third Kiss studio album; it's another strong collection from a band that were mostly becoming known for their outrageous stage show. At the time, their record label had so little money on hand that label president Neil Bogart produced the sessions himself, believing (correctly) that the band were one hit single away from stardom. The single should have been “Rock and Roll All Nite,” but in its studio version, the song failed to break out. (A live version of the song from their next album, Alive!, would do the trick.) Where Hotter Than Hell had been dark, Dressed to Kill is much lighter, whipping through its 10 tracks in 30 minutes. Each song sounds like a potential hit single, from the Stones-like shuffles of “Ladies in Waiting” and “Getaway” to the sing-along choruses of “C’mon and Love Me,” “Anything for My Baby,” “Love Her All I Can,” and, obviously, “Rock and Roll All Nite.”
