One of the most eccentric, prolific, and talented music producers working today, Madlib has released literally dozens of records that include critically lauded collabos (Madvillian with DOOM and Jaylib with Jay Dilla), free-jazz one-man bands (Yesterdays New Quintet, among others), and mysterious projects with a furry blue dude named Quasimodo. He exists in a strange space where he is simultaneously jocked by many thousands of fans worldwide, and yet completely unknown by the overwhelming majority of mainstream rap fans. On this, the eleventh chapter in his Medicine Show series, he presents us with 28 tracks, including collaborations (with Guilty Simpson, Talib Kweli, Dilla, Oh No, and AG), short but sweet instrumentals, and a few goofy skits. While those unfamiliar with the Beat Konducta's sound may be overwhelmed and/or slightly disoriented, if you're a fan of the Loop Digga, this is just what the doctor ordered. Impossible to categorize but great to listen to, this is truly original music from a one-of-a-kind performer.
