The third EP in Marshall Crenshaw’s Kickstarter-funded EP series—where for each set, the veteran power-popster offers up a new original, a cover, a remake of an old Crenshaw classic, and, digitally, a vintage live track—continues in the vein of I Don’t See You Laughing Now and Stranger and Stranger. The title track is a solid power pop tune you’d expect from Crenshaw in 2013, while the cover of The Bobby Fuller Four’s “Never to Be Forgotten” is the true highlight, showing off both Crenshaw’s impeccable craftsmanship and his ear for a gorgeous pop tune. His biggest hit “Someday Someway” is presented here in an alternate version with a trickier rhythm. Jimi Hendrix’s “Are You Experienced?” (in live bootleg quality from 1986) shows off a side of Crenshaw that seems totally incongruous to the man most people know through his records.
