You might call Go Get It the soundtrack to Mary Mary’s WE TV reality show of the same title, but it’s also the duo’s first best-of collection since it began recording in 2000. This overdue retrospective documents how sisters Erica and Tina Campbell have shaken up the gospel world over the past decade with their sparkling, hip-hop-infused sound. Mary Mary spices up the album with a pair of new tracks: the title tune (setting a motivational lyric to a hip-swaying groove) and “Sunday Morning” (a celebration of the Lord’s day with a retro girl-group vibe). The rest of Go Get It surveys the duo’s radio favorites, including such signature tunes as its breakthrough hit “Shackles (Praise You),” the irresistibly funky “God Bless,” the whimsically earthy “Dirt,” and the string-draped Kirk Franklin collaboration “And I.” Over the years, Mary Mary has gone from a promising new act to a contemporary gospel institution, using its success to spread a message of Christian love and self-empowerment. Go Get It takes a look back on the road Mary Mary has traveled even as it advances the duo's journey a few steps further.
