I'll Just Keep on Singin' the Blues was recorded in 1961 in Chicago just before pianist Memphis Slim was to embark on a European tour and take up permanent residence there. Backed by members of his exciting '50s band the House Rockers (including Matt "Guitar" Murphy), it's a lost masterpiece. Slim and his band are in great form on this set of originals that ooze gutbucket postwar Chicago blues. [This forgotten gem was reissued in 2000 on the budget label 32 Jazz and then again in 2003 by Savoy Jazz.]
