A legendary soul singer who was active for more than 50 years, Solomon Burke recorded nearly 40 studio albums, charted dozens of hit singles, recorded for a wide array of labels, and won a Grammy Award before his October 2010 death. Despite his lengthy resume, he's sometimes overlooked in the pantheon of old-school musical icons, though his unique blend of R&B, blues, gospel, and rock 'n' roll has been hugely influential to a vast assortment of artists (including The Rolling Stones, who covered several of his songs when they were starting out). Recorded live in Switzerland at the end of 2008, The Last Great Concert is a fitting farewell to a larger-than-life entertainer. It includes 34 tracks drawn from throughout his lengthy career; there are hits like "Got to Get You off My Mind," "Cry to Me," and "Tonight's the Night," as well as outstanding covers of well-worn classics like "Good Golly Miss Molly," "A Change Is Gonna Come," and "Georgia on My Mind."
