From 1974 to 1976, the Ohio Players were hotter than a leather jumpsuit in July. Three albums, Skin Tight, Fire, and their 1975 coup de grace Honey proved that few bands could bring da funk the way these Dayton, Ohio bad boys could. Their mad-skill melding of jazz chords, quiet-storm soul, and stupefying funk on hits like "Fopp," "Honey," and "Sweet Sticky Thing" made Honey a must-have R&B album in the mid-'70s. In their prime, the Ohio Players made urban airwaves sizzle, but this album sounds just as good today.
