After Quikr had launched its hyperlocal arm, and Facebook had made a <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><a style=\"color: #33cccc;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.officechai.com\/news\/facebook-home-services-india\/\" target=\"_blank\">bold play<\/a><\/span> in the space, India&#8217;s 2nd biggest e-commerce company, Snapdeal, has launched its own version of hyperlocal services.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Snapdeal now offers 80+ hyperlocal services on its app, including services like yoga instructors, make up artists, and wedding photographers. It doesn&#8217;t have its own listings though &#8211; it&#8217;s tied up with UrbanClap to deliver these results to its users. Bessemer Venture Partners is a major investor in both Snapdeal and UrbanClap.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-twitter\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/urbanclap?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@urbanclap<\/a> 80+ services live on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/snapdeal?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Snapdeal<\/a> Android app, joining <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/zomato?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@zomato<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/redbus?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@redbus<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Cleartrip?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@cleartrip<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Freecharge?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@freecharge<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/9jLJyNJtDV\">pic.twitter.com\/9jLJyNJtDV<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Anand Chandrasekaran (@anandc) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/anandc\/status\/729184366191120384?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 8, 2016<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Snapdeal is rapidly trying to make its mark in areas other than e-commerce. Earlier, it had tied up with Zomato for food deliveries and Cleartrip for flight bookings. Its vertical expansion seems very reminiscent of fellow-Alibaba backed company Paytm, that apart from e-commerce, also offers bus tickets, hotel tickets and even gold loans on its platform.
