The last few days have seen some people getting\u00a0fired for the strangest reasons. Let theirs be cautionary tales. Unfair terminations or just desserts, you decide.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

1. Delhi Cop Who Hurled Brick at Woman Fired<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

A Delhi traffic policeman was fired<\/span><\/a> after he attacked a young mother-of-three with a brick, apparently after she refused to pay a bribe of Rs. 200 ($3).\u00a0The incident was caught on camera by a passerby. As the video went viral, Delhi Police first hurriedly suspended Head Constable Satish Chandra and then arrested him amid mounting calls that he should be dismissed or compulsorily retired from service. A few days later, he was sacked.<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Teacher fired for encouraging students to bully girl<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

A misguided Manhattan teacher was fired<\/a><\/span> for allegedly encouraging her students to use a blackboard to spew hate at fellow student. \u00a0Investigators determined she went too far with a bizarre assignment that ended with the 13-year-old girl in tears.\u00a0\u201cUgly,\u201d \u201cannoying\u201d and \u201cphony\u201d were just some of the words classmates scribbled on the board in the student\u2019s presence to describe the tormented girl, who had complained in the past about bullying.<\/span><\/p>\n

3. A daycare worker got herself\u00a0fired before her 1st day at work for a Facebook Post<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Kaitlyn Walls, 27, was about to start a job at a daycare center when she posted<\/a><\/span> about it on Facebook. “I start my new job today, but I absolutely hate working at daycares,” she wrote. “Lol its all good, I just really hate being around a lot of kids.” \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The public post went viral after it was posted in groups around the area. Trolls descended on her, calling her dumb. And then her new employer found the post, called her up, and told her she didn’t need to come in.<\/span><\/p>\n

Walls took the post down and then wrote that she felt like a “failure” after the post went viral. “I’m afraid that I’m not going to be able to find a job because of my own stupidity.”\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

4.\u00a0Soccer fan gets fired from six-figure job after reporter calls him out for hijacking her TV segment with a lewd comment<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

During a match, a cheeky soccer fan thought it\u00a0would be\u00a0really funny to shout a rude obscenity into a reporter\u2019s microphone. The reporter, who had already been annoyed with the regular occurrence of such behaviour, decided that enough was enough and spoke out against her tormentor. His\u00a0employer, HydroOne, took no time in putting this errant fan in his place and has announced that his behaviour was “reprehensible”, and that he is in the process of being fired.<\/span><\/p>\n

5.\u00a0Employee says she was fired for refusing to be tracked 24\/7<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Myrna Arias claims she was terminated because she refused to use a mobile app that would allow her employer to track her whereabouts even when she was off the clock. She is now suing her former employer, electronic money transfer service Intermex, for $500,000 in damages. Arias alleges wrongful termination, retaliation, invasion of privacy and unfair business practices, among other complaints.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

6. Subway Employee gets sacked for seeming to celebrate gruesome cop deaths<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

After police officers Benjamin Deen, 34, and Liquori Tate, 25, were killed in the line of duty, a woman posted a message while wearing her uniform.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She wrote: ‘Two police officers shot tonight in Hattiesburg,’ followed by ‘GOT EM’ and a gun pointed at the words as well as a laughing emoji.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Thousands of tweets and Facebook posts demanding a response from the company began to appear almost instantly after her post.\u00a0By Sunday night, the popular sandwich chain had handed\u00a0Mccurdy her walking papers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A Subway spokesman said: ‘This kind of behavior is unacceptable and does not represent the values and ethics of our brand. The unfortunate choice of one individual should not reflect on the more than 400,000 honest, hardworking Sandwich Artists worldwide. The franchisee has terminated the employee, effective immediately.’<\/span><\/p>\n

7. \u00a0Man gets fired even before his first day for posting question on Quora<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

An engineer from the US, who had job offers from both Uber\u00a0and Zenefits posted a thread<\/a><\/span> entitled \u201cWhat is the best way to start my career: Uber or Zenefits?\u201d on Quora. Things did not quite go as planned when the CEO of Zenefits happened to come across his post. He did not take kindly to his company being compared unfavourbly to Uber, and\u00a0withdrew the\u00a0job offer right there.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

8. \u00a0Man Fired After Skipping Work for 24 Years<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Even in India, where government jobs are considered to be for life, A.K. Verma was pushing it. Verma, an executive engineer at the Central Public Works Department, was fired<\/a><\/span> after last appearing for work in December 1990.<\/span><\/p>\n

“He went on seeking extension of leave, which was not sanctioned, and defied directions to report to work,” the government said in a statement Thursday. Even after an inquiry found him guilty of “wilful absence from duty” in 1992, it took another 22 years and the intervention of a cabinet minister to remove him, the government said. India’s labor laws, which the World Bank says are the most restrictive anywhere, make it hard to sack staff for any reason other than criminal misconduct.<\/span><\/p>\n

9. Starbucks Employee Fired For Berating Customer<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

In the most recent of cases, a New York City Starbucks employee was fired after cellphone video showing her ranting at customers in a Queens store went viral shortly after being posted online. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ruby Chen said the Starbucks employee accused her of trying to steal a cookie straw and starting yelling at her to get out of the store, NBC reports<\/a><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cGet out,\u201d the employee says in the video, which Chen had posted on Facebook. \u201cYou\u2019re not going to be served here. Period. Bye. Bye. Bye.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
