Even as AI is hurtling along at breakneck speed, there are plenty of divergence of views between people leading the charge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang has said that he disagrees on “almost everything” Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei says. Huang was asked<\/a> about his reaction to Amodei’s comment that AI could automate half of entry-level jobs in 5 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0Huang said he \u201cpretty much disagree[d] with almost everything\u201d with what Dario Amodei says. \u201cOne, he believes that AI is so scary that only they should do it,\u201d Huang said. \u201cTwo, [he believes] that AI is so expensive, nobody else should do it \u2026 And three, AI is so incredibly powerful that everyone will lose their jobs, which explains why they should be the only company building it,” Huang said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think AI is a very important technology; we should build it and advance it safely and responsibly,\u201d Huang continued. \u201cIf you want things to be done safely and responsibly, you do it in the open \u2026\u00a0Don\u2019t do it in a dark room and tell me it\u2019s safe.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anthropic defended its CEO in a statement to Fortune. \u201cDario has never claimed that \u2018only Anthropic\u2019 can build safe and powerful AI. As the public record will show, Dario has advocated for a national transparency standard for AI developers (including Anthropic) so the public and policymakers are aware of the models\u2019 capabilities and risks and can prepare accordingly. He has also raised concerns about the economic impact of AI\u2014particularly on entry-level jobs. Dario stands by these positions and will continue to do so,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dario Amodei has previously said <\/a>that he expects that 50 percent of all entry level jobs could be lost because of AI in 5 years. Anthropic has been publicly very focused on safety, releasing detailed reports on how its models performed under various stress tests, and even running a bug bounty for people who were able to jailbreak their models. Amodei has even asked <\/a>for export controls to top-of-the-line GPUs to China to prevent it from catching up with the US in the AI race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But Jensen Huang believes that AI should be as widely distributed as possible. It does help his business interests if the market for NVIDIA GPUs expands, but he feels that the more people that work on AI, the chances of a single organization becoming too powerful and create a rogue AI are minimized. It remains to be seen how these disagreements play out, but there seems to be no shortage of differing views on how the AI revolution should be navigates in the years to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
